Welcome to the VFW Post 404 Mens Auxiliary

The members of the Mens Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars live by the motto, "Honor the dead by helping the living."  We set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform

"The 102nd National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of United States approved a by-law change that authorizes the formation of Men's Auxiliary Units in accordance with prescribed procedure."

A Brief History…

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives of millions through its community service programs and special projects. From providing free phone cards to the nation's active-duty military personnel to raising money for the World War II memorial, the VFW is there.

Membership in the VFW nationwide has declined over the past decade. In 1992, there were 2.1 million VFW members in the United States—in 2002, the organization had about 1.8 million regular members and about 700,000 members in its women's auxiliaries.

To aid in preserving the VFW motto of “honoring the dead by helping the living,” a plan to expand membership was launched. In August 2001, for the first time in its history, VFW members voted at a national convention to give posts the option of allowing men's auxiliaries.

Eligibility…

Membership in the men's auxiliary is open to men and boys 16 and older who are the husbands, widowers, fathers, grandfathers, sons, grandsons, brothers and half-brothers of eligible VFW members.
